Accountant

Description:

Reporting to the Vice President of Finance, the candidate will be responsible for full accounting cycle from AP to month end closing. Specifically the person will be involved in month-end closing process, post general ledger entries and balances accounts, including bank reconciliation. The person will also check and verify records, prepare invoices, requisitions, and vouchers; prepare check runs and handle the GST/PST reconciliation and remittances. The person will also support the budget process, tax returns filings, audit file preparation and will be involved in ad-hoc special projects and requests.

Requirements:

  • A solid accounting background with 3+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Experience with Great Plains – Dynamics software is required.
  • Knowledge of investment tax credits is an asset
  • Proficiency with Excel
  • Strong interpersonal skills to convey and receive confidential and sensitive information;
  • Excellent organizational abilities
  • A high energy, flexible personality that is adaptable to change
  • High level of initiative and autonomy
  • Ability to assist VP, Finance on all accounting & finance issues
  • Bilingualism is required

 


Bioinformatics Data Analyst and Developer

 

Description:

The candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, maintaining and tracking scientific software to support Caprion's extensive suite of proteomics software tools.

In addition, the candidate will perform data analyses such as expression profiling, protein identification and statistical analyses such as clustering and hypothesis testing.

The candidate is expected to mentor junior team members and to take on project management tasks.

Required Technical Skills:

  • Ideally the candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience working in an industrial bioinformatics setting.
  • Solid software development skills, especially in Matlab, Java, C/C++ and Perl.
  • Strong data analysis skills including experience with statistical analyses such as hypothesis testing, clustering techniques, gene expression analysis, etc.
  • Strong documentation and project tracking skills.
  • Knowledgeable of the software life cycle including requirements gathering, unit/system testing, maintenance, etc.
  • Exposure to proteomics and mass spectrometry data analysis is advantageous but not required.

  • Organized, productive and able to meet deadlines.
  • Comfortable working as part of a team, enjoys science, discovery and data analysis.
  • Curiousity and enthusiasm are desirable traits.
  • Enjoys communicating and interacting with colleagues in bioinformatics, IT and laboratory sciences.
