Senior Director, Project Management

Position Summary:

Caprion is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Senior Director of Project Management. The position reports to the CEO and directly supports the CEO and the Executive team in the timely delivery of their key departmental or multidisciplinary initiatives / projects through project management support.

The responsibilities specifically include:

Support to Executive Team (15-20%)

  • Support Executive Team and Board meetings (logistics, agendas, preparation, actions, follow ups, minutes, documentation);
  • Ensure effective and efficient information flows between all members of the Executive Team on key initiatives.

Project Management of key projects and key Operational Process Improvements (50-60%)

  • Coordinates preparation of regular multidisciplinary project team meetings (scheduling, agenda preparation, material preparation) and issues meeting minutes and action items;
  • Facilitates multidisciplinary team meetings as well as relevant sub groups ad hoc discussion;
  • With the team, develop, update and communicate the project plan, its timeline (schedule) and critical path;
  • Ensure that optimal team’s processes are in place - such as coordination mechanisms for follow-up and effective team meetings;
  • Follow-up on critical action items and resolution of issues between meetings- Making sure it happens;
  • With the team, identify the risks and the mitigation plan;
  • Document project plan changes and decisions;
  • Ensure timely involvement of relevant departments on team;
  • Follow project progress through ongoing communication, share information with all team members and raise flag on critical deviations;
  • Examples of Process Improvement projects include (LIMS, 21CFR Part 11, Data Analysis Platform, Site integration and harmonization).

Project Management Support to Functions (20-25%)

Upon request, assist Functions with delivery of their key projects through support with:
    Project scope definition o Project planning (schedule, milestones) o Mapping the critical path o Team set up and team operating mode o Documentation / Communication o Risks analysis and mitigation o Other as needed. A log of requests will be maintained.

Implement, evolve Project Management culture at Caprion (10%)

  • Implement monthly project reporting for key departmental and multidisciplinary initiatives (templates, process);
  • Create relevant project management tools and templates for Caprion;
  • Provide coaching, as needed, on project management skills, tools and technologies;
  • Set to establish the set of best project management practices at Caprion

Education, Experience and Skill Requirements:

  • M.Sc. in life sciences;
  • PMP certification;
  • Project Management professional with a minimum of 18-20 years experience as a Project Manager in related industry;
  • Implementation of project management best practices in related industry;
  • Previous experience in a laboratory or clinical research organization is an asset;
  • Previous experience with IT projects is an asset;
  • Fully bilingual french / english;
  • Proficiency with MSProject, Excel, Powerpoint;
  • Excellent and proven stakeholders and communication skills (written and oral);
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills;
  • Demonstrated planning and organizational abilities;
  • Result and detail oriented yet with a capacity for seeing the big picture;
  • Sense of urgency;
  • Highly autonomous, discrete and diplomatic personality;
  • Keen interest and strong abilities for interpersonal relationships;
  • Highly flexible and adaptable to changing priorities;
  • Skilled at assessing situations and priorities.
